The Frauenhofer

Finally I have found a true Bavarian restaurant for the vegetarians among us. Frauenhofer exists for decades. Today I had a look at the menu and to my surprise I found out that they have vegetarian meals also, African couscous i.e. This I do not have to write down: the beer is best in Bavaria should you like this.

Karlsplatz Stacchus

They have built there, I don't know for how long. Soon it seems to be finished.
I write about Karlsplatz Stacchus downstairs. I opened my eyes in gaze when I saw the result a few days ago. It looks modern. The new restaurants there offer more than fat sausages. International healthy food is available now. Some shops are new, some shops remained. It's worth having a look, better is to have some money in the wallet.

To start a walk from Karlsplatz Stacchus to the city hall is a recommendation.

Augustiner beergarden

The Augustiner Biergarten is one of the largest beergardens here in Munich. It is in walking distance to the main station or the S-Bahn Hackerbrücke.

What is so very special here in Bavaria: It is allowed to bring your own food to the beergarden. Many do this. Only the beverages must be bought there.

During summer time it is crowded there, but who wants to be alone. Beautiful are also the huge chestnut trees that give shadow on hot days.

Herzogstand

On the picture can be seen the way to the top of Herzogstand. It is a mountain already part of the Alps one hour away from Munich. It is a path everybody, young and old can go. It takes 45 min to get to the top when you have taken the lift up first. It is a path for hiking for people who are no hikers.

During weekends traffic jams must be expected. Then it takes longer than one hour to get there. Nevertheless, it's worth hiking there or having a drink at the hut and restaurant. The view is gorgeous. It is possible to forget everything, the landscape is so beautiful.

Glyptothek at night, party time

During summer time young people gather in front of the Glypthotek and the "Staatliches Museum" on the other side of the street. Some bring their own beer/wine/water and food to have dinner there or a party.

This place is very close to the main station (15 min when you walk).
It's a good place for a romantic evening.
It's good to have a blanket to sit on it as the stones can become rather hard after a while.

Georgios-taverne

At "our" Greek restaurant Georgios it is possible to eat vegan. I usually have a Greek farmer salad and a starter.Sometimes I have grilled aubergines, mostly artichokes.
It's difficult to get a place there. To make a reservation is recommended.

There are many reasons why we like to go to this little restaurant: The food is fresh and delicious. During weekends artists (dancers, guitar players) are invited and present a little show.

Best is the service. I always have the feeling that the staff likes the job they are doing. It is very friendly and professional.

The restaurant is not downtown, who cares. It's worth going there.

Tassilo da Sebastiano

It is one of our favourite restaurants here in Munich: Tassilo da Sebastiano.

I wondered if I should write about it or if this wonderful Italian restaurant should be a secret place for E and me. I googled it and found out that it is already under the 300 best restaurants of the magazine "essen und trinken".
Nevertheless it's still a hot tip.
Especially in summer time it's great to sit in the garden. Food and wines, service, everything is perfect.

Once we even saw the boss of infineon there (now ex boss). The meals are affordable, despite these famous guests.

Glyptothek

On the picture can be seen the Glyptothek, a museum. In front of this building people gather to sunbath, to meet friends, to chat, to enjoy solitude, to drink beer and wine, to have dinner or simply to relax a bit. It became one of my favourite places to sit in the evening.

A lake in the north of Germany

It's a lake in the north of Germany (Hämelerwald). Around the lakes are people who camp. People who live there sometimes bring chairs to take a picknick there. It's calm, ducks can be observed swimming in the lake.

Happy Fildjan, a restaurant

Happy Fildjan is round the corner where I live, but this is not the only reason why I like to be at Happy Fildjan.

The Croatian owner and the waiters are very friendly.
They are flexible and are able to modify the menu to my vegan needs. The coffee comes with a glass of water. I had ordered bruschetta today (see picture). They also offer affordable lunch.

I have free wifi here, which I appreciate.
During the World Cup it is possible to watch the matches.

In summer time it is possible to sit outside.

So and now I'll enjoy my Bruschetta, my second breakfast.......:)

It's time to learn a few words Portoguese

It's still 2 months till we travel to Brasil. Our departure is the 30th of August. I have still time to learn a bit Brasilian Portoguese.........Amazon will surely recommend me a CD and a book......
